Friday was an interesting day for me at Hypnoticon. i attended the Advanced workshop because M'Lady was there, so that if She needed anything, i could get it for Her. Since i'm no good at hypnotising other people, i mainly watched. At the beginning of the improvisational hypnosis game, i needed to leave the room for a short while, and when i came back, M'Lady dropped me very quickly and helped me into a chair, and then gave me the suggestion to fall deeper any time anyone snapped their fingers or said "sleep". Given that it was a room full of hypnotists playing an improvisational hypnosis game, i went very deep, very quickly. i vaguely remember the line that M'Lady was in moving while people were playing, and opening my eyes a few times because of my contact lenses, but other than that, i was wonderfully, happily blank. i think i also experienced time distortion, because it only felt like a handful of minutes, but i know that each person had two minutes to hypnotise their partner, and the line moved almost all the way through before the game ended for more discussion.

Elvis has left the building...
One more post to round things out before I give in to my accumulated sleep debt.
I'm home now, as is Ru'etha. Our new friends are still in the air and in my thoughts. But this is supposed to be about Hypnoticon, so back on topic.
The panel this morning was so much fun! I'd do another in a heartbeat. When I saw they had assigned us the big room I was a little uneasy, hoping we'd get a good turnout and wondering what the heck I was going to say. Fortunately I didn't have to worry much; the audience was large and lively and my panel-mates got things going nicely so that soon it was just a nice friendly conversation between us and the audience.
I've been writing and posting since early 1999, but because of the nature of what I write I get very little feedback from the community. Which is fine; I write primarily because I need to do it, not because I thrive on the feedback, but because of that I've always sort of assumed that not too many people actually read consentual, romantic hypnoerotica. So the thing that surprised and humbled me most was the number of people who took a few extra minutes to talk to me before and after the panel, just to say that they've enjoyed the stories and are glad to see new ones. That was so cool.
And yes, for those who know my impish nature, I did misbehave a little -- I dropped WinterRose into a brief trance early in the panel as I was writing URLs on the whiteboard. He was only in trance for a few seconds, so as not to disrupt the real purpose of the panel, but the audience seemed to enjoy it.
In between sessions and packing to leave I heard some enthusiastic comments from people about Aaron Glotfelter's show the night before. He worked the room cabaret style, going from table to table, and I'm told that at one point about a third of the people in the room were having orgasms simultaneously. There were certainly a lot of dazed and happy looking people at breakfast, and not just from our own play group.
The last item on the formal agenda was something that NGH never does, at least not that I've seen: a discussion session aimed at soliciting constructive criticism of the Hypnoticon experience from all interested parties, presenters and attendees alike. It took a lot of guts for the organizers to put themselves in front of their customers right there, while memories and any incidental annoyances were fresh, and ask "What didn't work well?" David, Brian, Leonard and Susan did exactly that and while I couldn't stay for the whole thing -- I came within 10 minutes of missing my flight as it was -- I was there for enough to see that they were absolutely serious about finding out how to make Hypnoticon 2009 even more successful.
I'm already looking forward to it.

Wonderful Tonight
I have a panel in 6-1/2 hours, so I should be sleeping but I'm still riding the high from a glorious night of socializing and play.
But before I go there, a couple of items from the day. I had the pleasure of sharing a breakfast table this morning with Paul Knight, Terry of Hypnomedia, and stage hypnotist/horror movie host/longtime entertainer Dick Dyszel. The subject turned to last night's show and Paul gave us some insights into what happened during that show that made me feel even more respect for him as a professional and a performer than I already did. It was like a clinic in stage hypnotism, the master (Paul) instructing the newer practitioner (Dick), and I got to listen and soak it in. Duuuuuuude! ;^)
There was bad news for the afternoon: Wendi Friesen, who had been scheduled to do a workshop on erotic hypnosis, got held up in a flight SNAFU and was unable to get into town. Her workshop was canceled, and Paul stepped in at the last moment to do a presentation on Hypnosis Myths. (Have I mentioned what a classy guy he is? Well, I just did it again.) Since most of our group were attending John Cerbone's class on rapid inductions I went with them.
John and his partner Richard Nongard put together what I thought was a fun program. They play off each other nicely (John is from New York, Richard from Chicago, and the accents and attitudes are genuine) and their Speed Trance method is one I'd seen but never analyzed or tried. It's going to become a favorite, though.
How easy is this method? I was paired with someone who had never performed an induction all by herself on anyone before. When her turn came to hypnotize me I saw her eyes widen in fear and her hands start to tremble. But with just a little coaching on the sequence, she took me through the induction and had me folded into her arms in about 20 seconds. As often happens, her experience in being hypnotized told her most of what she needed to know when she needed it.
In between we found time to record several podcasts. Stay tuned to the podcast website (http://www.emcpodcast.com) because we've got enough material recorded for a month and it's all great.
The evening started with the collaring ceremony. I'm not pagan, and what little I truly understand about paganism has come from knowing Ru'etha, but even for me the ceremony had such gravitas that I couldn't help but be moved. It was thoroughly touching to be there for it and I'll never be able to thank Ru'etha and Lyinar enough for having me there.
After the ceremony we had the choice of going to Aaron Glotfelter's erotic hypnosis show or continuing to hang out in our room. Hanging out won, but that doesn't mean we didn't see plenty of erotic hypnosis. Ru'etha was there, after all, with her newly-collared pet. A number of friends from the community were also there. At one point we had one of Ru'etha's friends having triggered orgasms from that friend's Master while Ru'etha played with Lyinar and I joined with a new friend in hypnotically double-teaming his wife. There may have been more orgasms going on up here than there were on Aaron's stage -- and Aaron pulls no erotic punches. As alt.sex.stories reviewer Celeste used to say, a good time was had by all. ;^)
Podcast listeners may remember that we've touched on dual inductions before. Lady Ru'etha and I recorded one last summer. As tonight's time wound down, though, we subjected Lady Ru'etha to the first ever (for me) quadruple induction. Four of us, totally improvising and weaving our words together through no coordination other than our shared awareness of what we were doing, dropped Ru'etha into trance and kept her floating there for 15 minutes or so while we poured suggestions into her head from all sides. (Yes, I know what the suggestions were. No, I'm not going to tell you.) ;^)
It was a beautiful night. The collaring ceremony, as I said, moved me, but I was even more happy to be able to use erotic hypnosis to bring pleasure to a pair of new friends who have become very special to me in a short time. The romantic in me is bursting with fulfillment right now that far exceeds any pleasure I would have gotten on the receiving end. And yes, there will be a story coming out of this. At least one. ;^D

Good Company
Today was about being in good company.
Ru'etha has already talked about our seminar with Brian David Phillips. I also skipped the walkabout exercise. Walking up to strangers and offering to hypnotize them just feels a little too evangelical for my taste. I'm not quite ready to become a hypnotic Jehovah's Witness. (Not that there's anything wrong with Jehovah's Witnesses, he hastens to add.)
We did a little more socializing and then saw the evening shows. David Smith led off with a short magic show and then Paul Knight took the stage. I had high expectations because people I know have told me how good Paul is. This show, though, I have to say was a bit of a letdown. Paul was handicapped by a very small stage and an audience that just didn't seem to be in a mood to play. He did his best and there were some memorable moments for sure.
After the show, a number of us came upstairs together and hung out until ... well, about half an hour ago. The NovaPro came out, Ru'etha went into domme mode, and we played with each other until people started falling asleep -- actual sleep, that is. I wasn't entirely conscious for the whole thing myself, but I'm pretty sure we all had a good time.

Lunchtime!
I'm having a great time!
Last night I hung out with WG and three other people and had that RPG discussion. Hypnomedia was there and taking pictures - yipe! :) And after that I met Brian David Philips and reconnected with some old friends. Then I headed down to the bar area and joined in a discussion on hypnotic orgasms.
This morning I was doing my impression of a morning person. I'm not one, but I can play one decently well and did my best. Sitting between two old friends I'd never met before in person, I was in the reviewing advanced skills session. I got picked on to be BDP's "volunteer" for demo of the Elman induction. Yeah, that was fun. :) One thing I keep telling people is that hypnosis works, even when you know how it works. Sometimes *especially* when you know how it works. I'm nicely fractionated but not yet nonverbal.. I imagine that'll be Sunday.
Right now, a bunch of people are out hypnotizing random strangers in the mall, bookstores, Hooters... I elected to hit the hot tub. ;) I've gotten to play with some wonderfully hot people, some of whom have long hair and nice accents. And I found someone who can introduce me to kriya yoga, which is fantastic.
More later, obviously... It might be after Paul Knight's hypnosis show tonight, though!

First night
Hypnoticon has barely start and already I'm glad I came.
Most of the people on my "want to meet" list were there at the meet-and-greet, which was very cool. It took me a few tries to get used to introducing myself as Wiseguy, but now it feels natural. I want to walk up to total strangers and just say, "Hi, I'm Wiseguy." ;^)
Funny thing: the highlight of the evening for me at this point was having a late dinner with a table full of people who, for the most part, had only just met -- and spending nearly all of it talking role-playing games. I always knew there were a lot of geeks in the hypnokink community, but it's funny to have it confirmed so totally.
The MC Stories panel is at 9:00am Sunday. If you think the podcast Ru'etha and I did from NGH was nutty, strap in!

Arrived
Well, we made it to the conference. Of course, due to flight delays, we managed to miss the welcome reception. Ran in to a couple of speakers and faces that I knew at the end of registration and in the bar later.
Highlight of the night - watching the couple in the bar, he having her under trance and performing what appeared to be Wendi's hypnotic orgasm anchoring on her. There is almost nothing that I find more erotic than the facial expression of someone under trance.

Anticipation
I can feel it already, that pleasant buzz in the stomach -- not butterflies exactly, but a sort of energized anticipation.
This will be a weekend of firsts for me. My first public appearance as Wiseguy (yep -- my real name gets packed away for the weekend). My first ever panel, on either side of the table. My first chance to meet a slew of people I've known online for ages but have never met in person. I'd name them, but I'd inevitably forget someone and they might be reading, so I'll just leave the list to your imagination. If chance is kind, my first opportunity to indulge in some hypno-play with new friends and renew contact with some old ones.
So if you see a big, teddy-bear looking guy wandering around with a "Wiseguy" name tag, come up and say hello. I promise not to do the Ericksonian handshake induction on you ... unless you want me to. ;^)

Pre-Con Excitement
So, it's a week away from Hypnoticon and I can't wait.
I feel like I felt when I was a little kid, and I knew that we'd be going to Disney World in a week. That last week before we packed the car and started driving seemed to take forever. It's as though time slows... way... way... all the way... down...
Sorry... what was I saying?
Oh, right. Conference. All of the wonderful tranced out moments that I'm looking forward to, and pondering all of the silly trouble we'll get in. And getting more and more fractionated as the days approach and go by all at once.
Is everyone else as blissfully relaxed and excited as I am?
